The furrow splits
“Blue is a magnificent color!” Sandra Lahire tells us in one of her films. A few drops of ink on the surface of the water, a breath, and magic happens! In the water, shapes emerge, drift, and transform, revealing waves of liquid blue. Originating in Japan in the 12th century, suminagashi—literally “floating ink”—involves placing ink on the surface of water to form patterns, which are then transferred to paper to create a unique, unpredictable, and always surprising landscape!
