Family stamping workshop, from age 4 and over
Sometimes well hidden on the back of a printed document, sometimes repeated endlessly to make up the design of an invitation card, sometimes placed at the bottom of a letter as a signature, or proudly displayed on the front page of an impressive expert report written by Jean-Noël Herlin, stamps are everywhere in the exhibition. Drawing inspiration from their shapes and colours, let’s explore several engraving techniques together to create our own without ending up completely... stamped!

Catalogue Number 3
Bookbinding workshop for adults
"I have the impression today that from the age of 15/16 I never stopped writing", wrote Jean-Noël Herlin in September 2023. By hand, pen and biros, he has been filling notebooks, diaries and sketchbooks with his handwriting and drawings for more than 65 years. To our notebooks! After choosing papers, formats and covers, let’s try our hand at a few different binding techniques to start our own anarcho-autobiographical archive!

Drip drip drip
Workshop on drips and stains, for children aged 6 and over
Drip, drip, drip, splash & sploutch, plic & ploc... It’s the sound of chocolate dripping from our fingers, of a sauce staining, of crumbs and coffee drops falling softly here and there on the kitchen table, composing a strange painting. In the manner of a number of abstract expressionist artists close to Jean-Noël Herlin, let’s make the drips and drippings run, fall and fly across the white pages to create little worlds made of strange shapes!

Family linocut workshop, from age 6 and over
The wide range of documents collected and patiently filed by Jean-Noël Herlin provides a brief overview of printing, its techniques and trends since the mid-1960s. In particular, it introduces the linocut technique. Like many artists and printers of the time, let’s linocut! Engraving, inking, printing: let’s go through all the stages of linocut printing together so that we can each make a do-it-yourself print as a souvenir of our visit.
