Nawba
Workshop for all ages, from 8 years old, with Célin Jiang
From a jumble of intimate objects, family photographs and memories from near and far brought back by the participants, the group composes a vast collective fable where small and big stories are mixed. A hybrid narrative gradually takes shape, made up of everyone’s voices and memories, between a family tree and a historical map.
Wednesday, March 1st, from 11 am to 4 pm
Making of (flag)
(with a lunch break on site)
Workshop open to all, with Mathilde Cameirao
Did you know that the shapes and colors of the Algerian flag were forgotten when the country became independent? Did you know that there are an infinite number of variations depending on the designers who put it together? Based on this little-known episode in the history of Algeria, presented by Katia Kameli in the exhibition, make your own flag. Rummage through the trunks of fabrics, explore the coats of arms of heroes and heroines of yesterday and today and delve into the history of symbols to make a flag.
Wednesday, March 22, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm
Raï Ta K7
Workshop for all ages, from 6 years old, with Susie Richard, based on a proposal by Katia Kameli
Rectangular, light and made of plastic, the audio cassette has marked more than three generations. In the age of Deezer and Spotify, the art centre’s team invites you to take a trip back to a not-so-distant past: the time when music was listened to and exchanged on magnetic tape! During this workshop, immerse yourself in the world of raï and Algerian music, record your own audio tape with the songs of your choice and customize its cover.
Saturday, April 1st, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm
The archivist
Children’s workshop, from 8 years old, with Célin Jiang
You wake up in the shoes of an archivist! You are asked to sort, classify, describe and reproduce a huge collection of images and documents. But beware, it seems that the machines and printers are getting confused: how can you tell the difference between historical documents and images of all kinds?
