Wednesday 24 May, from 2.30 to 4.30 pm
Daghmous
Family terrarium workshop, from 6 years old
According to Abdessamad El Montassir, the daghmous is a plant with many medicinal virtues and symbolises the memory of the desert. Both a witness and a healer, the plant keeps the memories of its territory while taking care of its inhabitants. In a terrarium installed in the art centre, let’s plant together the seeds, shoots and seedlings of plants that will discreetly listen to the stories of the visitors and take care of them and the works throughout the exhibition.
Saturday 3 June, from 2.30 to 4.30 pm
Taref Lazrag
Weaving workshop, intergenerational
Inspired by the various desert landscapes in the exhibition - from rolling sand dunes to deserts of rocks and pebbles as far as the eye can see - take your turn to dress a horizon line. Assemble your own wool threads, cotton browns and other cords, play with textures, shapes and colours to create a weaving of sky, earth, dunes and other desert mirages.
Wednesdays 14 and 21 June, from 3.30 to 5.30 pm
A’sla Yabsa
Cyanotype family workshop, from 6 years old
Inspired by the plants of the Sahara collected by Abdessamad El Montassir, we will search for plants, those that resist the invasion of concrete and the city in our immediate environment. After a stroll through the streets near the art centre, and in the manner of the botanist Anna Atkins, we will create the very first herbarium of the neighbourhood using her photographic print technique: the cyanotype.
Saturday 1 July, from 2.30 to 4.30 pm
Guelmin
Sound creation workshop, pre-teens and teens
A few snatches of conversations from passers - by, the wind blowing through the trees in the park, vehicles honking their horns or speeding on the road... What clues do these sounds give us about the landscape around us? Just like Abdessamad El Montassir in the middle of the desert, let’s close our eyes, put our ears to the ground and collect all these noises, whistles and
other whispers that cross our daily lives to imagine a sound composition all together.
