A Paris Wide Compendium, Autumn of the Year 2010
The Pickpocket Almanack is an experimental catalyst for social encounters with knowledge. A temporary faculty of artists, curators, writers and musicians create courses by selecting from public events already scheduled to take place at venues around Paris. Each course takes these pre-existing events (lectures, screenings, workshops) out of their initial context and provides a new narrative. The result is a set of journeys around Parisian cultural life, some unexpected connections, new discoveries, and a variety of perspectives proposed by a diverse group of cultural figures.
Five invited guests propose a selection of five events each amongst all the programmed events in Paris for the months of September, October, November and December 2010. Each guest “selector” proposes a route composed by 5 meetings (conferences, concerts, exhibition visits, etc.).
In order to participate in one or more meetings, you must create an account on the Public School website (http://paris.thepublicschool.org/) and sign up for the chosen route(s).
After signing up, you will be informed about practical details concerning the meetings and able to participate in the debates following the events (via email).
